O.E. Flax Blend Yarn for Technical Textiles
mmp's O.E. Flax + Cotton/Polyester Technical Yarn is a blended yarn developed for selected technical textile, filtration and industrial applications. Flax is a natural fibre, and adding cotton or polyester changes how the yarn behaves. That’s why we can adjust the mix to suit your fabric and the way you make it.
This open-end flax blend yarn is spun in counts from 2.0s Ne to 5.0s Ne. If you make fabrics that combine natural and synthetic fibres, it gives you one more option to work with. What you get from the yarn really comes down to the fibres in the mix, how much of each is used, the count you pick, and how it’s spun.

Flax on its own is a natural fibre. Mix in cotton or polyester, though, and the yarn starts to act differently. With cotton, you get a flax cotton blended yarn made entirely from natural cellulosic fibres, each with its own feel and behaviour. Swap in polyester and it becomes a flax polyester blended yarn, part natural and part synthetic. Some of our buyers go for all three together.
Put more of one fibre in, and the yarn takes on more of that fibre’s character. That’s really the heart of this open-end flax blend yarn: the mix, the ratio, the count, and the spinning decide how it turns out. Don’t go by the fibre names alone. Its strength, how long it lasts, and the way it behaves on your machines all trace back to those choices.
- Open-end spun blended yarn
- Flax blended with cotton, polyester, or both
- Blend ratio can be adjusted to suit the fabric
- Combines natural and synthetic fibre options in one yarn
- Counts from 2.0s Ne to 5.0s Ne
- Can be used alone or alongside other yarns in a fabric
As an OE flax cotton polyester yarn, mmp’s O.E. Flax + Cotton/Polyester Technical Yarn can be used for:
- Technical textiles: fabrics that can make use of what flax and its blend partner each bring.
- Industrial fabrics: a filter fabric and an industrial fabric rarely need the same yarn, so the mix is matched to the build.
- Filtration media: some filters do well with a flax blend. Your filter structure and operating conditions will tell you if yours is one of them.
- Natural-synthetic fabric blends: for mills combining natural and synthetic fibres. Let the end product decide how much of each goes in.
